Going Cray in LA

Tuesday 28 April 2015

LA is a weird place. Sam and I travelled there in 2013 and I swear, I couldn't have felt more out of place as a fat girl. I remember absolutely hating walking around LA because I felt so shabby and everyone was so put together and rich and looking like they were a Kardashian. As soon as we got home and I had a better idea of what LA was about, I wanted to go there again.

I don't know about anyone else, but I dress based on location and theme when I travel. I want to look like a local and not just look cute but carry the 'vibe' of the city I'm in and LA is a frigging hard place to capture the vibe of, but this shirt kind of explains it. I've discovered LA is all about being the most crazy but put together version of yourself. An exaggeration of yourself. A hotter exaggeration of yourself. Theres no room for low self confidence in that place. You've gotta rock the shit outta whatever you're doing because thats what LA is all about.

If I could go back, I would've brought my best and brightest outfits to make me feel better on that trip, but hey, next time, I'll be goin cray.

Orthodox Easter

Friday 24 April 2015

I know its a bit late but hey, this blog didn't technically exist yet to be able to post this at the right time. Two weekends ago (Sunday April 12th 2015), it was Orthodox Easter (Yes, Orthodox Easter, not Greek Easter. All wogs aren't Greek so plz don't call it Greek Easter). Its usually a week after 'normal' easter and its a pretty festive time especially if you go to the church gatherings.
My family doesn't go to church for Easter because we're not really that religious but we do always go to my grandparents houses for lunch/dinner. Wogs everywhere gather with their families and stuff their faces with good/greasy food on Easter because most of them had been fasting in the weeks leading up to it.

After spending the whole day at both grandparents houses, you basically roll back home while carrying a tray of more food to last you the next week and a half. I'ts pretty frickin awesome.
As well as the great food, theres also a mountain of sweets that all the oldies make usually just for Easter and Christmas (Christmas is also on another day but more on that when the time comes around). I'm so bummed I didn't take more photos of all the food but as soon as we got there, we pretty much got straight into eating haha

We take a pretty chill approach to our Easter gatherings but some people go all out and dress up really nice to go over to each others houses. That's not how we roll. The uniform for my family is basically jeans and a tee (or jumper depending on the weather). I haven't been a jeans person since I was about 16. All that changed about a year ago when a friend gave me basically all her plus size clothing and amongst it all was a pair of jeans. The most perfect pair of jeans to grace my plus thighs (ha! see what I did there!) since I was an inbetweenie. I've since worn them to death and haven't been able to find the same pair anywhere so I've been looking for a new pair to replace them and I think I may have found them *choir sings*

When I told my husband to take some outfit photos he just groaned and wasn't having a bar of it, but then we got into it and he was like 'ok, now you take some of me' haha he's pretty cute.

Hope all you guys had a great wog easter/regular easter!

3 Cheers To New Beginnings!

Sunday 19 April 2015

I'm back! Bigger, better and cuter than before. To those that remember I had a different blog that wasn't looked after as much as I had liked. I had a lot of other things on my mind and it was just a wish mash, but after a lot of time and thought I decided to give blogging a proper go. Why? Because, yes, there are a lot of plus size bloggers out there now (woo!) but I have yet to come across anyone that represents someone like me.

I've been on an endless search for a blog I can 100% relate to. While I love reading and looking at all the blogs I already follow, my list is seriously lacking wog girls rocking it on the internet. I don't know if its a cultural thing where they just don't 'feel' blogging, but I wanna make it happen, and my sister is partially responsible for getting me back in the game and making me feel serious about it.

My sister is 16 and is an inbetweenie. She's smart and a bit alternative. She's a lot more sensible than I was at that age but we're very similar in the things we like (well, when I was that age, our likes are compatible). It annoys me that there aren't any 'real' people that she can look at for inspiration to create her own style. Sure there are celebrities but thats really unattainable for a kid that has to rely on their parents paying for their clothes, and even if it was, celebrities aren't that relatable. I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though I'm her big sister, I want her to have a style sister her age that she can draw inspiration from, like I do from other bloggers. And that thought gave me the kick in the ass I was waiting for to restart my blog. I did this to process the reinvention of myself (a bit more about that in my About Me sections), but also to be a source of inspiration and to be the girl I wish I could've stalked online and been obsessed with when I was feeling flat about myself and needed someone to make me remember that I'm shit hot.

So you heard it, dolls!
I'm back... for good!
